Spelling words and pledge forms have gone home. Please check your kids backpacks to make sure you have received them! (Additional pledge forms can be found on the PAC table if you need them). Kids are encouraged to get pledges for their spelling prowess.
For your convenience, you can also make your pledges online via our fundraising site:

- science kits
- For a complete list of prizes view the Google Docs Spellathon Prizes sheet
All participating classrooms will receive a bursary for literacy in their classroom.
Note for Grade 7 Families
WHAT WE NEED: WE NEED PRIZES. Several times we have mentioned that we need prizes for the spellathon, as all kids with 95% and over will be entered in a draw for prizes. This is where all those unused birthday and Christmas presents come into play.
If you are benefitting from the fundraising efforts, then we are asking that you contribute at least 2 prizes (more if you have them). They must be unopened. They can be dropped off at 3019 Alma Street (14th and Dunbar area) or in Mme Eve’s office (former office of M. Vital).
All Kinder kids will receive a prize so they will be the smaller items.
We have committed to providing each teacher with $50 as a contribution to literacy in the classroom. So we don’t want to buy prizes on top of that as we want to keep our output to a minimum.
WHAT WE NEED: WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. We need volunteers to mark the spellathon for us on Friday February 3rd and/or over the weekend. We also would like to have a few days after school before the Spellathon where we showcase a few of the prizes that kids can win so we need some parents who can man a table for 20 minutes after school a few different days.
It’s been a very successful fundraising year, and it’s all happened thanks to the extraordinary efforts of so many of you. We are pleased but we are also happy that things are coming to a close, and looking forward to passing the torch on to the grade 6 class.
Let’s make this last effort a huge success and a fun event for our school community.
