Re: QEA VSB Meeting NOTICE OF CONSULTATION Nov. 3rd at Lord Byng gym

This information did not appear in the letter sent to parents and so most will not be aware of requirements to a) preregister to speak and b) register for a time slot to attend the school-specific consultation session. The school specific consultation session will not be a town hall style session. Community members will not have the opportunity be together, hear community views and hear the answers to the questions posed by other community members. Instead, school-specific consultations (where the highest number of community members would be expected to attend) will take the format outlined next to item 3 (red highlighted words are my emphasis) :

There are three different opportunities for you to participate in consultations:

1. Complete the online feedback form.

This feedback form is the only way to have your views captured in writing as part of the formal feedback process. Complete the form online at

2. Attend a community town hall meeting.

Three town halls have been scheduled. To give as many people as possible the opportunity to publicly present their ideas and views, speakers will have up to 3 minutes to deliver remarks. Trustees will be on hand to hear from you in person. You must register in advance to speak at these meetings.

Note: Registration is only required for speakers. General attendees are not required to register to attend.

Date Time Location/ Register to speak
October 15 11:00am – 3:00pm Vancouver Technical Secondary – 2600 E. Broadway
October 23 11:00am – 3:00pm Gladstone Secondary – 4105 Gladstone
October 29 11:00am – 3:00pm John Oliver Secondary – 530 E. 41st.

3. Attend a school-specific consultation session.

Affected families and communities are invited to attend school-specific consultation sessions. These sessions will provide you with an opportunity to learn and understand, at your own pace, the factors that were reviewed and assessed for your school.

Following a brief orientation, you will have an opportunity to review display boards, speak with trustees and complete the online feedback form via computers and iPads available. All the information available at the events is also online. To view the information and complete the feedback form please go to our website at

Registration for a time slot is required to ensure as many people as possible are able to flow throughout the information area, interact with trustees and fill in the online feedback form which will be included in the December report to trustees. Please register for a time slot for the affected school community to which you belong.

Registration for school-specific consultation sessions, and to speak at community town hall meeting opens October 1 at:
